Reserve a date with a missionary now!

Missionary Pieter Reid, who serves as a missionary in Indonesia, will be making a tour of the South Central District in January 2010.   He will be here from January 16-31.

An email was sent out recently to pastors and teachers inviting you to request an appearance by Missionary Reid — to preach, lead Bible class, talk to a group, talk to a school, you name it.

So far 8 requests have been made.  Please take the time to consider hosting Missionary Reid at your school or congregational function during these dates.

Here’s a rough outline of his itinerary:

  • January 16-20 — DFW Area
  • January 20-24 — Houston Area (will be at PTD Conference)
  • January 24-28 — South Texas (Austin, San Antonio, wherever)
  • January 28-31 — North Texas/ Oklahoma/Arkansas

These locations and their dates, are, obviously, reasonably flexible (for example, the 20th could be either in DFW or Houston or a point in between depending on requests; same with 24th, 28th).

Here are the responsibilities a congregation takes on:

  • Fair share of Reid costs (Total/congregations) – about $3,000 divided by each congregation that is visited
  • Special Offering for mission field (if possible) – gift or free will offering
  • Provide lodging (member home [preferred] or local hotel) — obviously not every host will provide lodgings since there will be multiple deputations during the day, but be prepared to do so

When making requests, please provide multiple options if possible (days, times) so that we can create the most “logical” trip through the district as well as factor in the two “off” days requested by Missionary Reid.
